Snow set....

Everything you need for a cold day is some gloves, a nice cup of Hot cocoa and of course the one you love. That was my inspiration for this card. I love this DP pack I got at Michael's. it is all winter but with sparkle. so the circles already had some bling to it. and this ribbon was perfect for it too. I used my creative memories punch to punch out the squares and just popped them up.

Wishing you all hope!

I am in love with this stamp set and I feel that I have barely touched the surface with what I can do with these cards. I have been seeing this technique around a lot where you just tear the pieces and use glitter and it looks like snowbanks. Living here in California I can drive up the "hill" to Tahoe and see some snow but never out my front door. My dad lives in Wisconsin though and I always hear about the snow stories.....maybe it is better to just drive to it....the shoveling doesn't sound fun!

I could not get a good photo of this that showed the bling.....

I forgot....

To wish you all a Merry Christmas!!!! The holidays are over and I am SOOO glad. I love this time of year but this year was super draining. We are having a New Years party for Family and friends so we have been unpacking like a frenzy and we actually have frames up with our pictures in it :)

I also have been unpacking and trying to organize my stamp chaos. I have gotten a lot of cool stuff I can't wait to try. My favorite stamp store Mainely stamping in fairfield (they spell theirs with an "E") had a wonderful sale over the weekend. 50% off everything in the store.....y silent setter blew last week and I was on the look out for another one and with that sale I bought a cropadile and a silent setter cheaper than it would have been to replace the one that broke!!!!

In my unpacking I found a bookmark I used with my Be Naughty set. since I found it last week it has been keeping my place in Dan Browns Angels & Demons.

quick update

OK so my first time I have stamped since Thanksgiving was Friday night....yes on the 19th of December.....that is over 20 days without inking up my poor, abused, CLEAN stamps....

It felt sooo good though and it was easier than I thought. My mojo was there and present and I do have to say I was really happy with the 2 projects I completed. You will get to see them this week. I have some time off this week so I will be stamping some more and I will also have some great pics of my stamp heaven soon!

I was without Internet up until last week. I had the worst time with AT&T....so bad that I actually reported them to Better Business Bureau and cancelled all of my services with them and went with another company.....I will sum it up in 5 words. Worst Customer Service Experience EVER.......

I do have a special announcement for Firecracker Designs to share with you!!!

From now until Christmas Day you can take 5$ off every order over $15.00!! Use coupon code: 5$OFF (all one word) Click HERE to shop

YES you CAN share the code with anyone you like!!

Also Pam has posted a new tutorial by Vicki Parson on her blog. Lots of wonderful pix showing how to create a gorgeous gift set out of a coffee container, notebook, and match box....
read all about it here!

Stampin up card

I made this as soon as I bought this set and I actually am ashamed to admit that I haven't inked it up since.....hopefully once I get organized I can ink up all my stamps and give them all some love!!!! That may be my new years resolution. To ink up all of my stamps and If I don't ink it then I need to get rid of it!

I was also playing with the new scallop edge punch....I love it!!!!

What an Honor!!!

I am so very honored that Gina gave me my very own blog award. What a sweetie and she is soooo talented. I love cruising her blog and I will admit although I look a lot she is better at commenting than I am :)

This year has been an amazing journey stamp wise. I pushed myself and set goals. some of them have been harder to obtain due to a lot of personal stuff (a wedding to plan, moving twice this year and a new puppy to start with). But I did reach 2 very important goals. I won the Cutie Pie contest for Paper Pretties in July and I made my first and hopefully not last stamping design team. I love working with Pamela of FireCracker Designs by Pamela She is so talented and her stamps are lovely. She has so many great ideas and she really took a chance on me to be on her Design Team. Plus the girls I work with are Fabulous!!!!

These are the rules that go along with this award:
1. The winner may put the logo on their blog.
2. Put a link to the person that sent the award.
3. Nominate 5 other blogs.
4. Put a link to their blog on your blog.
5. Leave a message for the people you nominate.
The hardest thing of course is to pick only 5.

1. Libby Hickson . Libby and I are on the same DT and she does fabulous work....I definitely look at her blog for inspiration.
2. Marie another DT member....have you seen her coloring and her use of color....is there any reason why she would NOT be on this list.
3. Heather Have you seen her use of shimmerz?????
4. Sherri You would never believe she has been stamping for only a year. She is fabulous and her blog has awesome work on it!!!!
5. Julie I love her use of metallics!!!!
Thanks again Gina you are the best OL stampin' friend a girl can have :)

The inside has the sentiment: "Ever had one of those days!"

Perfect for this image and soooo much fun to color

My Favorite Thursday

I loved this set the first time I saw it. It was just one of those sets that I HAD to have. I actually bought it in June and boy was I happy when winter came and I was able to ink it up! This sketch is actually a sketch challenge My Favorite Things hadm on Splitcoast awhile ago. I paper pieced her dress and used some flock for the snow and snowman to make him all fuzzy.

Paper pretties

I have not shown you a paper pretties card in awhile. I had submitted this for a past cutie pie submission. this was a an easy card in the respect that it just sort of worked. nothing how I imagined but I was happy with the finished product.

Monday, November 17, 2008

My Favorite Sketch

I actually participated in my first My Favorite things sketch challenge. I really liked this sketch and I had to play. I wanted to make an unconventional winter card and I picked green and blue. I chose the colors after I picked out my Design paper. I recently bought this ginormous stack of paper from Joannes and it has all these wonderful winter DP which I did not have before.

I used my fun flock which I got from Polka dot Plaza....I could go credit card happy in there!!!! Oh who am I kidding I already have! I also used my new Martha Stewart Snow Glitter....I LOVE it!

Color challenge...

I did a color challenge card awhile ago and I was REALLY happy with how it turned out. I used my Upsy Daisy set which honestly does not get inked up nearly enough (but, really, do any of our stamps!)

I also used Stampin Ups new in colors which are really growing on me but I always get scare buying them because I HATE knowing it will be hard to impossible to ever get them again once they are gone......I wish we got to vote for a color to come back or something like that....

Oh, on a side note packing is going super slow, mojo has returned and Spike is getting so big (proof he is well fed!)

8 from 1 Blog hop

All of us over at FireCracker Designs by Pamela used the same set to create 8 different cards. not only are they different but they were to be different occasions as well. mine was pretty easy as I was to make a card that could be used for any occasion. I didn't use a sentiment because this card can be interchangeable. although it is a bit girly....for some reason I have been using a lot of pink lately. I think this card would be a great missing you, hello, or even a nice winter thank you! what do you think!!!

I had read about a technique where you ink one side of your cuttlebug folder and run it through with the paper, but I had not tried it. I used my versamark chalk ink for the oink on the snowflake background. I'm actually really liking it! I used Stampin up pastels for the pink on the penguin and blue watercolor pencil. I got this great stuff called fun flock and it is SOOO much fun and easy to use. It gives the images a fuzzy feel and I used white fun flock for the little bit of tummy and her face. I also used my nesties for the ovals. Recently at Michael's I saw these pearls and what is great is they are self adhesive and not brads. they also come in different sizes all on the same sheet.

BLOG CANDY info: you must go to all of the DT pages and of course you must visit Pam for the details. You will receive your own Penguin set to play with and ALL of the cards we created using this set for you to use anyway you would like.

lost my MOJO, know where I can get some?

seriously I had great stamping plans for this weekend....I did make 3 cards but nowhere near what I needed to get done....I also still have not even started my Christmas cards. Nick and I also decided to move and we got a house 2 towns over and we move right after thanksgiving, so not only do I have like 50 cards still to make this month and pack up our house, I have not gotten much done.....although I caught up on some tivo and got some MUCH needed rest stamping mojo was VERY elusive.

Nick got me a lap top as an early Christmas present because I was hogging the house computer too much for my stamping stuff.....so I have started getting an inventory of my stamp stuff.....other than that there is a Lisa imprint on my couch....

soooo....seriously....stamping mojo please return!!!!!

Blog Hop POP challenge

Hi all and Happy card making day to you!

A while back Pamela from FireCracker Designs mentioned the neat idea Paper Crafts had with their 3 step card making (edition was called: cards, gifts, & more, paper crafting 3 ways) So she challenged her new design team to see how they could make a card that was already great to start with, into something that really WOWS you!

Here's what we did. Each member created a card, we called it the Step 1 card. It is a completely finished, very nice card. We sent that card to another member of the team, and that person was to take our card and step it up a notch, really make it POP...(although the magazine did this in 3 steps, we decided two steps was really enough)we called that the step 2 card.

SOOOO today, on World Card Making day, we are going to do a BLOG HOP...and show off what we did!! No one has seen the step 2 of their own cards!! Each gal on the team will be posting the step 1, and step 2 of the card they FINISHED, and the Step 1 of the card they sent away. That way you will be able to see side by side the finished cards, and get a taste of what the next card will be. There will be a link to the step 2 of the second card. When you get to that blog, you will again see the step 1 card, and the finished step 2 of that card...as well as the step 1 of the next card. Doesn't that sound FUN?? The best part, the girls all have to complete the blog ring to see how their own card was POPPED!

Now for the candy.....once you complete the blog hop ring, you need to visit Pamela....where you can then leave a comment telling her which card art you liked the best, why, and which artists had a hand in creating it.......... .She will pick 1 random winner to send out a stamp set to!! (Her choice)..... .......

Now to start things off:

Here's the card I received as a step 1 card. It was created by Libby Hickson:

Here's what I did to it, (step 2) to make it POP:

I added glitter t the tree cause I LOVE shiny ornaments and i had a cute star charm that I hung off to the side and added the white ribbon.

and NOW, here's my step 1 card, that I sent to Pamela:
Visit her Blog to see what she did!

I love nesties and the new sentiments I got

I finally got some more nesties and I got the ovals.....I have been wanting to do the layering and embossing trick FOREVER and I finally got to.....I also haven't embossed in awhile and I thought Silhouette Flowers would be the perfect image to do that with. I also love this ribbon technique that I learned from Jill over on inkstampnscrap

Another Fire Cracker Designs by Pamela Card

I wanted to use this set for a fall like card but honestly my color pick usually has pink in it so this was a challenge to pick orange colors. I used 2 different sets from Firecracker Designs by Pamela, I used Silhouette Flowers and Tumbling Scarecrow. I love the tumbling scarecrow stamp set!!!! He is such a cute little guy and I have some more ideas I want to try with him that hopefully I can get them done next month.

Another pretties card

I had made this awhile ago for a color challenge on splitcoast but never posted it! this was the first time I tried using inchies and not sure I was a fan....

Saturday, September 6, 2008

First FireCracker card

I had to play with my new stamp set! I used Silhouette Flowers for the technique on last weeks Splitcoast Technique lovers challenge. I used Faux Embossing. I loved how it turned out with the colors....I am trying to break away from the summer colors and get ready for fall/winter. This set is really versatile and I can not believe how many images there are to play with! this is one image and there are many more to ink up!

Monogramed Thank Yous

I recently purchased the Just Rite monogrammed stamper (the small kit for special occasions) I am planning on using this a lot during the wedding planning process!

My cousin is having her 1st baby and she is due in October and her baby shower is the end of this month. I decided to make her some personalized monogram thank you cards for her to use in the colors that she is doing the nursery in. Pink and brown!

I used Stampin up DP and pretty in pink. and of course my punches and new stamper set. This is what the card looks like

Here is a close up of what the monogram looks like. it is super easy! you just click the letters in the little ridges and then ink away. there are even these super cute borders. The only punch I have that was big enough was the scallop circle and I didn't really want to use that. When I get the new 1 3/4 punch from stampin up I am totally going to try it.

This is a picture of all the cards I made and the band to hold them together

Happy 27th Birthday to me!!!

I got this idea from Nichole Heady’s blog. She recently celebrated her birthday and wrote 29 Birthday Blessings for her 29th birthday. Since today is my 27th birthday and I have many things to be grateful for and so many blessings in my life.

1. Nick—This year I will be planning my wedding to this wonderful man that makes me so incredibly happy. He works so hard to give us a great life, he goes out of his way to bring a smile to my face, he is so generous of himself and his time that I am blessed just by knowing him. I am so grateful that we were sent to each other and that we are being given the opportunity to share our lives with each other.

2. My health—The fact that I am able to get up every morning and not worry about anything but superficial stuff is a blessing. Recently I have realized what a blessing this is with all the news about Christina Applegate being only 36 and having breast cancer and undergoing a double mastectomy. My prayers and hopes are with her.

3.My home—We are doing so many things to decorate and truly make this house a home. A place where friends come to dinner or we can enjoy a night in. A place of our own just for us.

4.My job—With so many people losing their jobs I am lucky that I have one as well as the fact that I like it. The commute is long but at the end of the day I realize how lucky I am to like where I work.

5.Stamping—A hobby I never knew was out there. I have been blessed with wonderful ladies teaching me new techniques, blogs to surf showing designs and ideas, and generally making me a better stamper.

6.My mom—She is not always what I want her to be but I know she is the best at being herself. She was a single parent that worked hard and gave my brother and me the best that she could. I am grateful and know that if she could give us everything she would. It is because of that, that I work hard to earn all of the things in my life.

7.My friends—I am blessed with people who I not only love and care about but people who would jump up and do anything to lend a hand. I am blessed that some of these friends will be able to stand by my side as I marry my best friend.

8.Bridal magazines—for making the planning process of this wedding a little easier. Who would have known that so much was involved!

9.My sight—I love to read and without this I would not ever be able to read again or see colors and the vibrancy of the flowers as they bloom or the leaves change color at the hint of fall.

10.Big Brother TV show—for some reason I am hopelessly addicted to this show. I watch every episode and even the after dark episodes. It is so much fun watching it!

11.Tivo—I have no idea how I ever watched TV without Tivo! I no longer watch live TV and I record everything and watch when I have a chance. Because of this I don’t watch as much TV as I used to and I am able to enjoy other things like Nick, a good book, stamps, and sometimes just a nice hot bath!

12.Ice cream—This is the one food I will never give up! If I diet I will switch to sugar free but it is ALWAYS in our house.

13.Splitcoaststampers—This website is one of the main reasons I love this craft. It has made available some awesome tutorials, people, and ideas.

14.My craft area—Nick has built me a craft area and it makes it so much fun to be able to get in there and stamp away!

15.Books—To me there is nothing better than the smell of a book store. The pages and the nice crisp spines. I love books and I hope my kids enjoy them as much as I do!

16.The Twilight book series—This is being considered the next Harry Potter and this series is sooooo entertaining! I enjoy every minute I read these books.

17.A good bottle of wine—Sometimes nothing beats coming home and pouring a nice chilled glass of white wine and sipping it while enjoying a California summer night. Of course on the super hot days we are enjoying those nights inside with the AC blasting!

18.Enablers—To all the woman that have enabled me along the way! My stamp collection Thanks you and Visa is not so happy.

19.A nice massage—In need of one and it is on the to do list…..nothing beats the waterfall music some vanilla scented candles and being completely relaxed.

20.A good haircut—Nothing beats going and getting the perfect haircut where you walk out of the salon and you feel a million heads turning your way.

21.Music—I love music on the radio, love going to concerts, seeing bands at dive bars. To me music is music and I love it all from country to pop to rock to reggae.

22.Weekends—I love to sleep in and I am not able to every weekend but those weekends where you have nothing planned except relaxing and sleeping in, maybe watching a movie.

23.Movies—I love movies and I love going to the movie theater to see them. There are so many great movies and love everything from Oscar nominated to romantic comedies to drama’s.

24.Being a woman—I love being a woman and having the power we have to do so many great things and help out so many people. I love how empathetic we are and how understanding we can be. I love the band of sisterhood and how without knowing each other we would stand up for one another in a heartbeat!

25.My Grandmother—She passed away January 2007. She was the most wonderful courageous woman I have ever met. She was strong in every since of the word. I know she is looking out for me and I know she is the one that sent Nick to me. She is everything I hope to be and more.

26.My hopes—They make me realize that fairy tales do come true and even then you still have dreams and wishes and things to move forward to. Nick and I will one day have children, I will one day build a stamp company and do this hobby that I love so much as a career.

27.My ambition—It is because of this that I will end this post with something that Nick’s grandpa says after he blows out the candles every year on his birthday… “Ahhhhh, Another great year!”

trying to relax

Plans are still being made and I feel like I need to be in about 20 places at once. I am looking forward to October because Nick and I are planning to go to Disneyland for a week and we really need that! Just a week of fun and no thinking about anything except what ride we should get on next!

I have been trying to get my mojo back so I did a past sketch that was posted on splitcoast. this set is from My Favorite Things

Sorry for the MIA

We have been doing SOOO Much around the house and getting it ready to make a home since we decided to stay in it for at least a year to two more. Next month we are painting and by winter we are replacing the flooring. Last weekend we even picked up all these shelves and my craft area is really becoming a great place. we jokingly call it my "stamp heaven". Not only that but I decided to host a pampered chef party 2 weeks ago and this upcoming weekend I am having a get together at our house to celebrate Stampin ups new Catalog. I have mainly been doing stamping for swaps and hopefully I will start to do more fun stamping soon. I am even thinking of just doing the challenges on splitcoast to get my mojo back :) I wil lbe posting pics as the projects get completed.

Gina K Birthday

Nick's grandmothers birthday is this week coming up. She is so great and sweet. she is the epitome of a classy woman always with her pearls on. I thought this card was perfect for the classic look I was going for. She also loves lilac.

Another swap....

I joined a swap on splitcoast and it had to be brown and ?....so pretty much any color you choose. I am in love with the brown and pink color combo....my big sis from DSS on splitcoast sent me a really nice goodie package filled with bellas and brads and ribbon and even a new pack of Berry Bliss paper. I of course had to open it and play. I used close to cocoa and pretty in pink. I colored with prismas and gamsol. let me know what you think.

Well Nick had surgery on Monday and he is doing great and then we had fiber optic installed in our condo and of course they thrashed my craft room so needless to say I have had very little stamping time this week. I do have some projects to photograph but that would require I know where my camera is! I should have a new post this weekend. Happy 1st day of August!

bubble bella

When we buy a house my only BIG requirement is a bath tub that I can take bubble baths in.....is it any reason I love this bella. I used some crystal effects for the bellas and love how it looks. this is using the tempting turquoise design paper and I am so excited it retired.....I was going to order some but it already went out of stock :(

I used the sketch challenge on my WRAK group over on splitcoast. that was where I received the paper from as well.

New Papertrey Ink Stamp set

Well I purchased my first paper trey ink stamp set and I had to play!

I used my new Martha Stewart inks. I am loving pigment inks and love using them with both clear stamps and rubber ones! the impression is so crisp!

Lucky Bella

This was a bella that I had to have. I am Irish and very proud of it and love anything green and with clovers....I joined a card swap on splitcoast and this is the card I made to send in!

Another Gina K sketch Challenge

Over on Splitcoast in the member company forum for Gina K there is a sketch challenge contest....I of course had to participate because a new Gina K set is on the line!

here is what I came up with!

If you can't tell I am in love with paper piecing this adorable dress! I made a boo boo but quickly fixed it using my word punch!

I have also received my new paper pretties stamps so I will be playing with those soon!

Christopher Titus

Well last night I saw Christopher Titus at a local comedy club. I love this man. he is hilarious and can make you laugh at the most awful things! We went with my boyfriends parents, my mom, aunt and a couple that we hang out with. it was a blast!

I even had my picture taken with him and got an autographed signed t-shirt!
